Frank Simon’s groundbreaking drag documentary is coming to Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema this July!
Before RuPaul’s Drag Race, there was The Queen, which covered the 1967 Miss All-America Camp Beauty Pageant. The film takes you up-close-and-personal with the contestants as they rehearse, throw shade, and transform into their drag personas in the lead-up to the big event. The film features the inimitable Crystal Labeija and Flawless Sabrina vying for supremacy, along with celebrity judges—including Andy Warhol—crowning the Queen.
This special screening will be preceded by brunch and a performance by Toronto’s Fontaine + Film.
The Queen Special Drag Brunch + Screening takes place on July 28 starting at 11 a.m. at Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema. Grab tickets here.
