We can’t think of a better way to usher in International Women’s Day than to sit back and listen to the soulful songs by the one and only Nina Simone. Simone’s music has always done things to both our mind and body, but we also admire her for her rebellious ways. She was a disruptor, a civil rights activist who stood up to authority and spoke from the heart.

Next Saturday, Toronto award-winning jazz vocalist Faith Amour will share Simone’s life, through story and song at the Small World Music Centre on Shaw Street. We can’t wait to hear her belt out everything from Feeling Good to Sinnerman—there isn’t a Simone song that we don’t love absolutely.

Reserve a spot at the intimate Small World Music Centre (180 Shaw Street), and take in the expressive sounds and words of this legendary artist who was never afraid to shake things up.
