I’m a very recent convert to oysters, but now I kind of luv them. So fresh, so good for you…so many sauces to dump on them! Oh yes, they are my kind of food.
99 Sudbury, the space that brought you the Toronto Flower Market, is back with another kickass event that you won’t want to miss: Cool City Oyster Yard. Open now and running through early fall, this outdoor seafood restaurant sounds like a whackload of fun.
Spearheaded by chef Michael Pataran, there is a Chalk Market which features a variety of daily oyster selections and other shellfish offerings all served up raw, plus a regular menu which includes dishes like a 1lb Crawfish Boil, Devil’s Mussels, Cracked Conch, Tuna Salad, and Octopus. There will also be vegetarian items like a Seaweed Salad and Beets N’ Carrots, plus delicious sammies like the Lobster Club and Salmon Cubano. Um, hi. I’ll take 12?
There’s also an extensive cocktail menu serving up classic summer drinks like the Pimm’s Cup and Tequila Gimlet, as well as nine types of Japanese sake, 20 white wines, 15 reds wines, five types of beer on tap, and a variety of tall boys and bottles. What a party!
