It’s getting cold in here. Last night’s decision of wearing just a blazer resulted in nearly taking a cab for a 4 block stretch. Went for pho instead to warm up where my friend Josh had to kill the toonie sized spider crawling up the wall by our table and my chicken did not look like chicken. I learned two things from experience. First, no more 3 am Vietnamese binge eating. Second, it’s time to put on a damn coat.
We took a look at some of the lines available in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal to offer some favourites. Since Vancouver winter (much like its spring and fall) is merely about dodging the rain, we added some downpour-friendly additions to the mix, as well as the snowboard gear suggestion. Other trends that have trickled down from the runways are military looks old (think nutcracker style blazers) and new, and faux fur.
Montreal ladies, be sure to check out the ever-sophisticated homegrown lines like Mackage and Soïa & Kyo . Vancouverites, Mintage on Commercial Drive and Front & Company are always full of easy finds, or for some quality splurging, Eugene Choo always has pieces to die for. In Toronto, find locally made pieces at Model Citizen in the Market or try the always-hip Lavish & Squalor.
