What I’m Wearing:
My skirt (a definite favourite) was a steal at forever 21 for like $20.  I love its high waist and sometimes I wear it with classier stuff, but a lot of the time i just pair it with something schlepy like a graphic T.  The black lace shrug I have on with it in the picture I found at Value Village for $6 I think.  I love shopping there!  The red tube top I have on underneath was on sale at Urban Outfitters for like $10 (without question the cheapest thing I’ve ever bought there) and my sandles I actually got in Athens, Greece at this absolutely fantastic shop that sold handmade leather goods for a bargain.  Purple bag from H&M for $30 and belt borrowed from my mom, I confess, she got it at Zara

Now, onto the questions….

What is your favourite outfit for a night on the town: The truth is I love little dresses!  I don’t even have all that many of them, but little jersey or silk dresses with a simple pair of heels are killer and so much fun to wear – especially dancing!

What is your must have fall fashion item: Definitely scarves – they are really versatile and can spice up a boring outfit when you’re feeling uninspired.

Tell us what fashion item you can’t stand: Jeans that are just too tight around the waist.  I’m always thrilled to see people showing off their bodies whatever shape or flavour, but girls, please just buy the right size for you, there’s no shame in that and it’s so much more comfy too

Now on to boozing, what is your favourite bar to go to: Labyrinth just off Bloor and Eat My Martini on College are both great martini bars with massive selections.  They’re perfect for a laid back drink with a date or a fun (and colourful) pre-drink with girl friends.  Check out cheaper Wednesdays especially if you’re just looking for a relaxed night.

Favourite place to dance: Probably Dance Cave on Bloor.  Fun crowd, great music, no cover for students and a really unpretentious atmosphere that I love!  It’s totally run down,  but in a good way and you can dress up, or not and know the words, or not… just make sure you have a good time.

Where to go for best live music: I’ve been told by many that The Rex on Queen West has some really outstanding jazz shows and I would love to check it out!

Best hangover cure: Sleep.

Where do most of your friends hang out (bar wise)? A lot of my friends hang out at the Brunswick House which is a fun joint but only so many times a month, you know?

What is your most typical at home meal? (don’t be ashamed, mine was oatmeal and kraft single slice sandwiches) when I’m living on my own probably tuna sandwiches and bananas (not together!) I make eggs a lot too.

What are you listening to on your iPod right now? I’m Gonna Be by The Proclaimers.

Best food to sneak into the library/lecture hall: Something unchrunchy.  I usually go for clementines although sometimes their delicious smell will give you away.

  1. Favourite thing you’re decorating your new place with? Hanging lamp from IKEA!  Hard to discribe, but it’s basically a gauze tube full of fairy lights!
  2.  Best cheap way to spruce up a space? Just print off a bunch of pictures of your friends and scavange some posters from one of those stores on Yonge St. that sell rolling papers and sew-on patches and stuff.
  3.  Favourite sober daytime activity (art gallery, reading in the park, etc.) Probably playing rugby or, on a lazy day, just hanging around home with my boyfriend watching movies or Prison Break DVDs
  4.  Best free activity/cheap activity: In Toronto, it’s Nuit Blanche NO question.  It may only come once a year but it’s so worth the wait.
  5.  Favourite work-avoiding tv addiction: One Tree Hill and Prison Break
  6.  What are you reading right now? The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith.  Definitely recommend.
  7.  Favourite newly discovered neighbourhood: Not newly discovered, but an old standby – Queen East and the Beaches!
  8. Course you would recommend to peers: Women and Development.  A really interesting course that, for those who’ve taken a lot of Development courses, takes a refreshingly micro approach to things and provides really great case studies!
  9. Course you are most looking forward to this year: Broadcast Journalism!
  10. One thing you wish you knew before starting university: It’s going to be okay.
  11.  What’s the best thing about your particular university? It’s right downtown and you’re close to everything.  And I mean everything.
  12. What’s the most annoying thing about your particular university? Everything except maybe grass.
  13. Any warnings? Just stay true to yourself.  In fact, University is a chance to do just that in case maybe you haven’t before.
  14. Any additional tips? Nope, I believe in you!
