On Friday, November 2, Furniture Bank will be hosting its eighth annual gala and silent auction, the Chair Affair.
We are long-time fans of this organization, which transfers gently used furniture donations to people transitioning out of homelessness, women escaping domestic abuse, and refugee families beginning a new life in Canada. While the term “Furniture Poverty” may not ring familiar to some of us, it is a very real issue that most of us cannot even fathom. (Think of having to choose between a bed for your child to sleep on or having food for your next meal.)
Hosted by HGTV’s Todd Talbot, this year’s Chair Affair will feature Juno Award-winning crooner Matt Dusk. DJ Bianca Lee will have supporters on their feet partying for the cause. The silent auction will feature a selection of drool-worthy items and coveted experiences as well as one-of-a-kind furniture pieces, upcycled by some of Canada’s top designers.
Get your tickets now, and be part of an extremely important cause in our city. Can’t make it to the event? Click here to find out how you can donate your pre-loved items (e.g., artwork, mattresses, coffee tables, chairs, sofas) to Furniture Bank. Your contributions could change a life.
