February 9th marks the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, and the Ontario Science Centre (770 Don Mills Road) is celebrating with a full schedule of special hands-on activities, speakers and presentations that’ll widen your perspective on what makes a great scientist–and imagine your OWN future in STEM.
The day’s highlights include a Curiosity Café with Ana Sofia Barrows (Project coordinator, equity, diversity and inclusion at the Rotman School of Management), Wikipedia Edit-a-thon (to address the gender gap) and Spotlight on Women in Science with Farah Qaiser (Department of Molecular Genetics, University of Toronto) Eden Hennessey (creator of #DistractinglySexist, #DistractinglyHonest, #TurningTablesinSTEM interactive photo exhibits) and Ive Velikova (MSc candidate in Science Communication, Laurentian University, neuroscientist and YouTuber).
More than ever today, the world needs science, and science needs women in all fields to bring different perspectives and solutions to global problems. Come celebrate women and girls in science with us!
