Toronto is stepping up its opera game with Julie, a modern-day adaptation of August Strindberg’s scandalous 19th century play Miss Julie.
Presented by Canadian Stage and Soundstreams, Julie features just three singers re-enacting Strindberg’s groundbreaking sexual/social love triangle in an intimate setting, introducing contemporary opera to the culturally-curious. London-Ontario born Mezzo-Soprano Lucia Cervoni plays the tragic heroine Julie, oppsite soprano Sharleen Joynt (who you might recognize as the opera singer from The Bachelor 2014).
Julie runs for eight performances from November 17–29, 2015 at the Bluma Appel Theatre (in English with English supertitles).
