Got plans tonight? NOW YOU DO. Head to Camera (1026 Queen St. W), grab a glass of wine, and sit back as MDFF, The Seventh Art and cléo jointly present a screening of Josephine Decker’s Butter on the Latch.
Inspired by a Bulgarian folk song, the film is a sinister folk tale set at a Balkan festival in the Mendocino woods. Best friends Sarah and Isolde share secrets, songs, and dance by the fireside. When Sarah decides to long-game seduce a man she found in the woods, things get weird, exciting, friendship test-y and vaguely mythical.
I mean, perfect right? Hot off the European festival circuit, this sounds like a definite must. Bring your bestie! Go alone and make a new one! Find a guy to seduce in the woods! Live your liiiiiiiives!
Tickets available at the door starting at 8pm. The first 30 guests pay $8 and then $10 after that. The film starts at 9pm.
