The hunt for the perfect leather bomber has eluded me every year, as my predominant shopping instincts – being as cheap as possible and getting something unique – are in direct opposition. While thrift shops are good for any other sort of attire, the leather offerings are always picked over, leaving the only the dried out, the shoulder padded, the buckled, and the stinky. When it comes to new jackets, Rudsak, M0851, and Mackage are lovely indeed, but shelling out a thousand bucks for jacket worn 6 weeks out of the year just isn’t an option.
Luckily for me (and you), this week at Marche Bonsecours, la Braderie de mode québécoise, will be offering deep discounts on our favorite Quebec labels. Now in its 16th year, this event was started for two main reasons: to allow local designers to sell their samples, one-offs, and surplus inventory and to allow the public to purchase Quebecois designer clothing at reduced prices. 50% to 80% off on women’s and men’s ready to wear: leather, sportswear, coats, fur, bathing suits, lingerie, jewelry and accessories. Participating designers range from mid to high-end: Mackage, Rudsak, Bodybag, Marie Saint-Pierre, and plenty more. See you there.
