Age: 24
Hometown: Toronto (Leaside, if you must)
What do you do? Brand Ambassador
What do you love most about where you live? There are so many things to love about Toronto! We have pretty much everything covered. I’d have to say that I love our vibrant multiculturalism. So many cultures thrive here and it’s awesome because we get to be a part of it all from great food, drink, music and style.
Your best friend is coming in to town for one day:
Where do you take them shopping? I’d defo take her vintage hunting! I Miss You, Vintage 69, and so many other great places (I favour the westend) so we’d definitely peruse Ossington, Queen West and maybe even Roncesvalles for great apartment finds and Stella Luna style.
Where would you spend a sunny Saturday? BIKING! I am in love with High Park is many ways so I would head over in the morning and bike around the many paths and probably make it down to the waterfront and bike along the boardwalk to the ferry docks where you can take your ride over and cruise around Ward’s Island and see the pretty skyline. The best!
Where do you go to eat dinner? Queen’s Pasta in Bloor West Village is an old-standy. Freshly made pasta with delicious sauces served piping hot. Mmmmm. A close second would be Sushi Island on College for an all-you-can-eat fest. Words of wisdom: don’t get the sushi pizza! It always puts you over the top.
What’s the bar route? So many choices, so little nighttime. On any given night it could go like this: start out on Ossington (The Ossington, Camp4) then maybe move to Levack Block for some dancing. Then, things could progress to The Social or The Drake or maybe even Wrongbar (in no particular order).
Can you share with us a great hometown memory? Meeeeemories! My hands down all-time favorite memory (memories?) is something my friends and I dubbed ‘The Greatest 48 hours ever’ when Justin Timberlake (no judging!) came to town and we all went. The next day just happened to be SARS-fest which we all went to. TTC-ing it up to Downsview to rally in support of our Sars-ailing city while ACDC, The Rolling Stones and Justin Timberlake performed? YES PLEASE. It was perhaps the most exhilarating, dehydrating and memorable day in my opinion.
What one stereotype about your hometown just isn’t true? Sometimes I get some ‘tude from my west coast family about being from ‘the centre of the universe’ but I find Torontonians are proud of all of Canada. We love the west and the east! I love exploring what our amazing country has to offer. Toronto is definitely not the be all and end all of Canada.
How are you celebrating Canada Day? I’m hoping to be BBQ’n (perhaps in a park…..) with a Canadian and sparklers in hand. ALSO! Fireworks down at the Harbourfront?
