Age: 27
Hometown: Whitehorse (originally Vancouver)
What do you do? Self-employed
What do you love most about where you live? The business opportunities I am afforded living in the Yukon are incredible. In many ways the Yukon is still a frontier and the entrepreneurial spirit is strong. The Yukon is very outdoors-oriented (literally in my backyard), weekends are spent camping or canoeing, skiing or sledding; and the summer’s 23 plus hours of sunlight makes for good adventures! We also have a great local brewery…

Your best friend is coming in to town for one day:

Where do you take them shopping?
The First Nations craft store on Main street for locally sewn and beaded mukluks, Yukon Artists at Work art gallery and store, then the Baked Cafe for coffees.
Where would you spend a sunny Saturday? In the winter on the Mt. Mac ski hill, in the summer at the cabin or in Dawson City.
Where do you go to eat dinner? Georgio’s.
What’s the bar route? Lots of live music in town, so somewhere with a good band playing and ‘Yukon Gold’ on tap!
Can you share with us a great hometown memory? Rendezvous winter festival! Men all grow beards and the women wear garters over their jeans; there’s flour packing competitions, dog pulls, the Yukon Quest dog sled race that starts on Main street, the chainsaw chuck, the sugar shack, Sourdough Sam and of course the can can dancers that kick every night at the bar!
What one stereotype about your hometown just isn’t true? That it’s cold all year round, and that it’s flat tundra. The Yukon has Canada’s tallest mountain, Mt. Logan, and last summer was HOT.
How are you celebrating Canada Day? BBQ music jam at a friend’s house.
