With mainstream photography continuing to push the perennial male gaze, it’s refreshing to find an all-female perspective.
Through portraiture, still-life photographs and sculpture, BODY TALK (Project Gallery – 1109 Queen St. E) focuses on expressions of the female form and sexuality, in all of its beauty and imperfection. The works grapple with themes of identity, desire, disguise, self-acceptance and body dysmorphia. So much of our self-image is interwoven with how we feel about our bodies, and this exhibition conveys an honest representation of the female gaze. Artists featured include Tau Lewis, Nadia Gohar, Michelle Lefade, Maya Fuhr, Dafy Hagai, Claire Milbrath, Rebecca Storm, Neva Wireko & Yulia Zinshtein.
Opening reception is Friday April 29th 7-11pm. BODY TALK runs April 29-May 29.
