On Wednesday, the Regent Park Film Festival and presenting partner, Toronto Black Film Festival, will screen 2017 Academy Award-winning Hidden Figures outdoors in the Big Park in Regent Park (620 Dundas Street East). Catching a film under the stars is one of the coolest things about summer in the city; end your summer with one of the year’s best films!
Hidden Figures is the incredible untold story of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe)—three brilliant African-American women working at NASA who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.
If you haven’t yet seen this film, we can’t think of a better opportunity to see it! If you have seen it, you know it’s worth seeing again and again.
BYOB (Bring Your Own Blanket) and come early! Starting at 5pm, you can grab food from the market, enjoy a community meal, watch food demos, and a whole lot more! And it’s all FREE!
