Striptease athletics? Been there, done that. What’s the fitness trend riiiiight now? HULA HOOPS and specifically, HOOPDANCING!
Hoopnotica, the technical term, is taking North America by storm! The New York Times listed it as a way to loose that post-baby fat (along with strollercizing, ummm – no thanks) it was featured on The Biggest Loser and even Ellen (w)hooped it up for audiences.
Felinity, Toronto’s workout studio specializing in “core feminine movement” is now offering up a Hoopnotica instructor course. If you’ve got rhythm and are especially gifted at moving a hoop around your hips, or just plain ol’ gyrating, then this could be for you! We wouldn’t suggest quitting the 9 to 5 just yet, but this is definitely creative and fun. (It is also a super good party trick and peculiar talent to brag about…and a way to infiltrate all those trapeze and circus clubs that hang in Trinity Bellwoods!)
If you’re interested in becoming a certified Hoopnotica teacher, their location at Broadview and Danforth will be holding level 1 and 2 certifications on August 21 and 22 at a cost of $499 + HST.
For those who want to try out hooping before deciding to test it out as a new vocation – join one of the beginner classes. On Wednesday evenings Felinity offers an outdoor Hoop Jam at 7:30 PM OR wake up early on Saturday morning for the 11:15 AM Hoop Fit class, which is ideal for newbies.
So hip….it hurts? Yes ma’am.
