Good news, feminist cinephiles: Bechdel Tested is back! Now in its third(!) season, Bechdel Tested is launching this Sunday night with an event focusing on women in theatre, co-presented by Nightwood Theatre.
A Raisin in the Sun (1961) is the film adaptation of the world-renowned play by Lorraine Hansberry. The film follows a poor black family that receives $10,000 from a life insurance policy after the father’s death.
The screening will be preceded by a panel on women in theatre featuring Ansuree Roy, Bahia Watson and Nikki Shaffeeullah and moderated by Kelly Thornton, artistic director at Nightwood Theatre. Plus, there’ll be fab prizes, cocktails, schmoozing and more!
