We all can be a little bad every now and again.
That’s the theme of a new group exhibition spotlighting the work of eight female photographers in Toronto. Curated by Clare Vander Meersch, the works of Raina Kirn, May Truong, Angela Lewis, Regina Garcia, Brooke Wedlock, Michelle Yee, Kerry Shaw and Anya Chibis’ explore our very human tendencies towards behaving badly.
This first group show by SOFIA (Society of Females in Art) has a mandate of representing women’s voices in photography, and delves into larger issues of troubled adolescence, social rebellion, regret, body image, fears, secrets, and emotional catharsis.
Catch the show starting May 18 at Artscape Youngplace (3rd Floor, 180 Shaw Street) as part of the 20th Annual CONTACT Photography Festival. Opening night is May 18th, 6-10 p.m.
