If the idea of attending a family day cultural event makes you want to gauge your eyes out with a Fisher Price Power Saw, don’t get down on yourself. Plastic ball pits and boy band impersonators aren’t exactly a party for parents. We get it. The parenting experts at Bunch Family specialize in the kind of family fun that’s actually enjoyable for everyone. They’re hosting two family day events this Feb. 20th that celebrate the quirky, creative and inventive stuff that makes hanging with your kids fun. No creepy clowns or Disney princesses included, we promise.
For one day, the AGO transforms into the KGO
(Kids Gallery of Ontario, of course!) Bunch has teamed up with the AGO to provide the most creative Family Day event in city. The gallery will offer an art making extravaganza, culminating into the creation of a day-long exhibit by kids titled “Kid Nouveau”. Your kid can channel their inner artist by test driving the art courses the AGO offers, partying with famous painters of the past like Pablo Picasso and Frida Kahlo, going on kid-centric speed tours of the gallery, and showing off their creations in the all-kid art installation. Plus, there’s a dance party.
@ The AGO, 10 AM – 4 PM. Family passes (2 adults and up to 5 kids) $39
Funnovation Imaginarium
In a jam packed afternoon, kids can get crafty in a “funnovation lab”, where they’ll make crazy creatures and whimsical machines, get down on a funky floor with DJ tunes, and strut their stuff on a catwalk (made of cats!) where they can model wacky accessories of their own design. All of this will be fuelled by a fully stocked cookie bar.
@ Old Navy, Etobicoke (Queen’s Square, 177 North Queen St., across from Sherway Gardens) 1 PM – 4 PM. Free.
