Worn Fashion Journal is launching their Shoe Issue this summer and pairing the launch with a curated Bata Shoe Museum exhibit featuring a fashion staple dear to all our hearts: Keds! Worn sent out twenty-four pairs of plain white Keds to a diverse group of Canadian artists and designers and asked them to redesign and embellish the classic canvas shoe in any way they chose.
Featured fashion designers include Renata Morales, Clayton Evans of complexgeometries, Angie Johnson of Norwegian Wood, and Damzels in This Dress; artists include Allyson Mitchell, Hilly Yeung, Hollie Dzama, Marina Dempster and Team Macho.
The Art & Sole Exhibit is running from May 21st to June 6th at the Bata Shoe Museum and is closing June 6th with a seriously fashionable gala and life auction fundraiser. The party will feature cocktails and hor d’oeuvres and Motown/Stax/Hi Records music by Shake a Tail DJs plus—and this is good—an auction that will give gala attendees the chance to bid on these gorgeous pieces of footwear art.
Worn is selling advance tickets online for only $28, and tickets include a two-year Worn subscription so it’s a real good deal. A portion of all proceeds go to Fashion Cares.
