Toronto-based Amplify Collective is channeling their anger toward the violent acts perpetrated against Black people into RESILIENCE, a virtual night of protest performance art.
The event will be held Saturday, July 11, at 8 p.m. on Zoom and is PWYC, with 100% of the proceeds donated to BlackInPostSec, a documentary project about the experiences of Black university students in Canada.
The night will feature drag, burlesque, boylesque, fire art, and other performances by Thrasher Burlyque, Matt Eldracher (Tucker), KJ McKnight (Kage Wolfe), Zyra Lee, Kayla Arianne Ross-Jackson, Svetlana Konswallow, Jacklynne Hyde, Scarlet Black, Dainty Smith, Halal Bae, Sam Yang, Jayjay Kings, and Scarlett BoBo. Guest speakers include Teaunna Gray, an Afro-Indigenous director and film photographer, and Samantha Bitty, a sexual health and consent educator and social change entrepreneur.
