Like all AGO 1st Thursdays, the gallery was packed with art enthusiasts of all ages. However, this event also marked the winner’s announcement for the prestigious Aimia AGO Photography Prize.
While some guests took in the Bowie exhibit, others gathered to marvel the stunning images of the Aimia AGO prize finalists and congratulate this year’s winner: Canadian photographer Erin Sherriff. Not only is the award a mark of distinction but Sherriff also receives $50,000.
Soul songstress Zaki Ibrahim took centre stage in Walker Court and guests trickled in to hear her beautiful vocals and dance beneath Frank Gehry’s winding staircase. Music, fashion, art, photography, architecture: AGO 1st is truly a celebration of all arts.
After a week of being internationally disgraced by our mayor, the night was a lovely reminder of just how cool Toronto is.
