Reilly Rightmyer is one of many Toronto photographers on the scene mixin’ it up with her own creative style. Hers seems to be surreal, colorful, crazy, dark and fantastical, with some photo shopping tricks up her sleeve. How does she create some of her images? I have no idea, but I’m keen to one day find out. I’m a photoshop newb though, so maybe to a pro this is childsplay, I’m not sure. Either way, she is a great photographer and righteous chick. Join her Facebook page to check out her weird and wonderful photographic creations. She seems to enjoy the exploration of self portraits as well, with props like paint, bathtubs and Warhol-esque collages.

Freedom Clothing Collective is all about the message “Love us, we were made in your neighborhood”. This Torontonian and Canadian artisan’s haven has been perched at 939 Bloor St. W (west of Ossington) for 5 years and counting, and sells hand made one of a kind men’s and women’s clothing and accessories, as well as re-made vintage and vintage pieces. Their specialty are things made with eco-friendly, sustainable materials or recycled fabrics. Zines, shoes, artwork, local CDs like The Rival Boys are also available. Started by Ryerson Fashion graduates, some of the members have been there since the beginning, some have came and left and some are new. The store operates on consignment and collective members each work one day a week to keep it open. They are always looking for new consigners so if you make or alter anything wearable, contact them! Great place to buy unique gifts. They also host art shows, sewing, silk-screening and craft workshops, music performances, poetry readings, yard sales, gardening in their beautiful backyard; something’s always going on, so stay in the know, and always feel free to drop by in person.
