Breakthroughs Film Festival (June 10-11) is the only festival in Canada devoted exclusively to short films by new generation female artists.
Here are six reasons why you should attend this year’s fest:
- Got an idea for a film you want to make? Let the filmmakers showcased at #BFF16 inspire you to start shooting.
- The value you will gain is exponential; jumping into film fests is a different way to do film school.
- Breakthroughs Film Festival showcases shorts from all over the world. Consider this a passport to nine different countries, with the tour guide being a young creative, like you.
- A short film fest is kind of like attending a cocktail party where plates are constantly passed with sumptuous nibbles. Fun, tasty, and every food group is represented…or in this case, every film genre.
- It’s a great date idea with your film-loving friend or lover! Check out the shorts and then head for ice cream and drinks. Trust us: you’ll have lots to talk about.
- BECAUSE LIFE IS BETTER IN EVERY WAY WHEN WOMEN SUPPORT OTHER WOMEN!
The word Breakthroughs refers to the struggles female artists face in an industry where they not only make up a very small percentage but also must, in many cases, work harder than their male counterparts to be heard. Breakthroughs is committed to showcasing and promoting women in film between the ages of 18 and 30, both at the fest and in other endeavours year-round.
Basically, this fest was made for you.
A one-night pass is $12, and a two-night pass is $20. See you at The Royal Cinema on June 10-11!
