There were only so many of the same PhotoBooths I could see: Plain white sheet backdrop, paper mustaches on sticks, one bland prop after another. There is nothing wrong with “same,” but there isn’t anything wrong with “different” either! Just wanted to let y’all awesome SDTC readers know that I’ve started putting my own twist on PhotoBooths. Aside from continuing to shoot event photography, I’m offering them at weddings, events, parties, anywhere really. Get acquainted with Something Blue!
It’s been a blast so far getting to flex all kinds of creative muscles, from picking out unique fabrics, painting custom banners, and conceptualizing custom props, to putting it all together at an event. Each PhotoBooth is different from the next. Confidence-building headshots at Babes Boardroom, “Clueless” at Midnight MRKT, “Bridesmaids” at a Drunk Feminist Films screening, a 90s Electric Circus-themed wedding, a pink explosion at queer arts fair, Pink Market, a metallic wonderland for Steven Cohen at Canadian Stage, among others.
My latest was a Beetlejuice Halloween-themed PhotoBooth at FreshBooks, which turns out to be full of the raddest people who go ALL out for Halloween (my favourite holiday)! I stayed for part of their staff Halloween party and witnessed a ‘rock paper scissors’ competition livelier than most frat parties. (And chirp chirp – they’re hiring.)
