On the corner of Front and Bathurst, is a bright orange shipping container: Do you want to party in it? This Thursday, Minto Westside and Scadding Court Community Centre are teaming up to host a lively night market / block party and this orange container will be the epicentre. Heyo, can I get a what what for #WestsideTO? But, seriously though, what is this? Big bidness getting crafty; a little teaser for what is yet to come.
Real estate behemoth Minto Properties will soon be erecting another giant at Front and Bathurst. Like the new kid in class, they’re warming up to the neighbourhood by making friends with a big scene: octopus balls, anyone? The already lively intersection will transform into a full-on food fest this Thursday. Gushi Foods Japanese Fried Chicken, Malaysian Kitchen Roti, Mnandi Pies Zimbabwean meat pies, Tito Ton’s Filipino-Caribbean street food, artisan breads and cheeses from Cheese Werks, Dishum Dishum Indian Street Food, Bunz pulled pork, Trinidadian Cuisine from Young Animal, nitrogen sorbets from Eative, Choco Churos, and MORE! (Don’t forget the octo balls!)
But that’s not all! The event will also feature live performances, an outdoor beer garden, local craft vendors including Elle Mair Co and The Drift Collective, an art show from the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto, a fun photobooth and a Farm City TO urban farmers market! Yeeeeeeeeee! ALSO-ALSO-ALSO, Canada Pan AM and Parpan Am athletes will be in attendance to mix and mingle with, as well as city councillors Adam Vaughan and Han Dong.
Drink, shop, chat, dance, eat, debate…and then maybe buy a condo? Maybe! Or walk home and discuss your five-year plan; units start from the high $200s.
Hey Minto, we’ll give you this: you know how to get noticed and make some noise. Octopus balls can only enhance a party.
