Back at CONTACT Photography Festival for its fifth year, Analogue Gallery presents Women in Rock, an exhibit celebrating the groundbreaking work of some of the most influential women in music history. Spanning a wide spectrum of music genres and decades, Women in Rock features renowned female artists including Tina Turner, Nina Simone, Marianne Faithfull, Kate Bush, Stevie Nicks, Patti Smith, Debbie Harry, Chrissie Hynde, Madonna, Joni Mitchell, Janis Joplin and Diana Ross.
These women have inspired, stimulated and provoked the music scene for decades. With over 40 featured images, the exhibit not only celebrates these legendary females of rock, but honours their captured images by such photographs as Janette Beckman, Edie Steiner, Lynn Goldsmith, Jill Furmanovsky, among others.
Analogue Gallery is Canada’s premier Rock & Roll gallery and has held past exhibitions including Sound Space, 50 Years of the Rolling Stones: A Rock & Roll Retrospective, Forever 27, and Punk vs. Rap.
Women in Rock opens April 30 and runs until June 14.
