Just in time for the holidays, Elizabeth – Darcy: An Adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, is returning to Campbell House. The show features only two female cast members, Hallie Burt and SDTC contributor Kate Werneburg. In this innovative re-imagining, women really can do and be anything they want (including Mr. Darcy!)
This gender-bending version is more than just a sight gag. Elizabeth – Darcy remains true to the spirit of Austen’s novel, while playfully exploring the nature of love and gender both now and in 1813, when the novel was first published. Taking place in Toronto’s own magnificent Regency museum, the audience follows the action from room to room, providing a timeless setting for this classic tale.
The show runs December 18-21, tickets are $20 and can be purchased online here. Tickets also available at Campbell House Museum Box Office by phone: 416-597-0227 ext. 2. Showtimes at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
