There’s something so thrilling about being in-the-know on the latest buzz. So what’s word on the (gay) street? There’s a new flirtatious playground hitting Toronto. Born Ready is coming out, and it wants the world to know!
Bringing the queer to Queen West, Born Ready’s massive launch party is going down Friday, April 4th at the slickly revamped Tattoo (567 Queen Street West). Born Ready aims to be a game-changer in Toronto’s alternative party scene, serving up a fresh take on fun each and every time. It’s the perfect party equation, let’s do the math: performances by phenomenal queer talent + a sensory stimulating atmosphere (lights, sounds, and even projected images!) + a whole lot of sweaty bodies on the dancefloor = guaranteed good times, duh! The DJ lineup is stacked; Guelph’s underground party-starter Madam D will be taking the reigns, and Essence Brown will bring the heat from their hot-as-hell monthly dance parties at the Holy Oak. Most exciting of all, Regina the Gentlelady, the LIGHT FIRES and Gentleman Reg performer-extraordinaire, will pack the place with an off-the-chain DJ set.
Speaking of off-the-chain slang from the ’90s, the theme of this party is Reality Bites, a nod to the 1994 hit movie starring Winona Ryder and Ethan Hawke. Guests are encouraged to grunge it up; plaid, chokers, Doc Martins, eyeliner, and a general don’t-giva-f*ck attitude. Obviously there will be throwback jams pumping throughout the night—get your requests in on their Facebook event page! You’ll hear electro, chillwave, and hopefully a healthy dose of Destiny’s Child (by my request. You’re welcome). Dress up right, cause there will be an interactive photo area that doubles as a kissing booth! Grab the nearest consenting cutie and pucker up!
