The mass hysteria over the Sex and the City movie has come to a tragically chic halt now that every woman and her best friend, sister, mother and gynecologist have all seen the movie…twice.  And with whispers of a sequel already in the works (yawn), young and fashionable twenty somethings need a new cinematic work of genius to obsess about!

But what could possibly trump Sarah Jessica Parker in all her SATC glory?  How about the most famous and gorgeous young Frenchwoman in Hollywood portraying the most glamorous and beloved French fashion designer of all time? 

Just the thought of Audrey Tautou playing Coco Chanel makes my head spin with anticipation and excitement.  C’est vrai! Coco Avant Chanel is currently filming in Paris and is set for release next year.  The film will focus on the early years of the celebrated designer’s fascinating personal and professional life.

Chanel is now all the rage in Hollywood, with film producers throwing big bucks behind three large projects set for release in the next two years including a Danièle Thompson biopic and William Friedkin’s Coco & Igor, set to begin production next year and star Marina Hands.

I don’t think I’ve been this excited for un film since, well…Sex and the City.  And as much as I love her, even in her killer heels and wearing the most over the top flower pins or larger than life bird hats – SJP has got nothing on Audrey.  Rien!

So swap your Betsy-Johnson-Carrie-Bradshaw-inspired party dress for vintage-Chanel-Amelie-Poulain-inspired jewelry….and hold your breath chérie!
