Now in it’s 10th season, the Canadian Opera Company’s fundraiser, Operanation, remains one of our favourite annual galas. The Four Seasons Centre for Performing Arts swells with the sounds of booming crescendos as guests ascend the sprawling staircase, showing off their glittery gowns and taking in views from the layers of balconies.
Although it’s a night to dress up, it’s also a time to rock out. Every year, the COC brings together a notable band or musician and pairs them with an opera star. This year The Sam Roberts Band took the stage with soprano, Amber Braid. It was moving, magnificent and totally mesmerizing to watch.
Beyond music, the COC and Operanation is about bringing together all art forms and for Operanat10n: A Night of Temptation they collaborated with mulitdisciplinary artist Jon Sasaki and local fashion designer KAELEN.
Operanation raises money for the COC Ensemble Studio, Canada’s premier training program for young opera singers. go towards training programs for young opera singers.
