Last week saw the grand opening of a new jewelry store in Yorkville, The Black Box Boutique (106 Yorkville Ave.).

Stepping into the shop, which is located across the street from Over the Rainbow, you feel as though you are walking into a life sized jewelry box.

Owner Lilla Balint carries jewellery that can fit every taste and budget. The prices range from $40 to $500 and the brands come from all across the world. The balance that the store works towards is 50% Canadian and 50% international, carrying pieces from New York, Israel, India and beyond.

The collection that started it all? Noir, a New York line that helped Lilla realize that this store was the direction she wanted to take last January. Lilla studied fashion design at Ryerson University, and the store carries her own designs as well. Three words to describe her style? Eccentric, fun and happy.
