Students, punks, dogs, Rachel McAdams and concerned citizens are rallying in St. James park to let it be known that the current state of things is not okay. This peaceful movement echoes that of Occupy Wall Street and European protests with the ultimate goal being to level out the balance of control in the world and put pressure on the government to change policy so that wealth and power is more evenly distributed.
It’s a tricky challenge as there isn’t one single request being made but rather a complete overhaul of how the current corporate world operates. Essentially, Occupy Toronto is about creating balance so that power and money is more evenly distributed and the gap between the ridiculously rich and struggling poor is reigned in. We applaud those participating in Occupy Toronto and hope their efforts are acknowledged and heard by those who can actually change policy.
