After the disappointing end of Honey, patrons were left wondering what would happen to their signature nights.  After a test run and small absence, Ice Cream Social has found a new location: The Waldorf!

It seems like everything good is at the Waldorf lately (the Chosen Ones, East Van Soul Club), so the addition of Ice Cream Social to their lineup is not surprising.  The Ice Cream Social farewell party was held at the Tiki Room, and it really was the perfect fit for the night.

With well-made drinks, a kitschy feel, and fake palm trees, the vibe of the Tiki Room fits the old timey tunes on Ice Cream Social’s roster.  It’s big enough to hold the crowd, but not so big that Monday-night club goers can’t fill the room.

It’s definitely farther east than any of Ice Cream Social’s previous homes, but the cab ride is short enough from downtown that it shouldn’t make a difference.  Also, the Waldorf is apparently trying to sweeten the deal with themed specials and giveaways.

The grand re-opening is happening on May 2nd, and it’s free before 11.  It’ll double as an election after party, with deals for those who got out and voted.  Not sure how they’ll verify that, but I’ll take a freebie with my vote any day.  See you there!
