This time of year, there is nothing more appealing than being cooped up inside our bedroom with a hot toddy and a good read… unless of course Come Up To My Room is happening, in which case we’d prefer to be cooped up inside the Gladstone drooling over rooms we can only dream of calling our own.
Now in its eighth year, Come Up To My Room is an annual alternative design event inviting artists and designers to show off their imaginations. The four-day event features 11 room installations, 14 public space projects, and 44 artists and designers taking over the Gladstone Hotel’s rooms, Melody Bar, Cafe, Gallery, and Ballroom. Curators select the participants based on past work and experience and consult and discuss the projects, but know virtually nothing about the installations until they are revealed. The result is the ultimate in artistic freedom and creativity, and the perfect escape from reality for those who attend.
Come Up To My Room runs January 27th to 30th at the Gladstone Hotel (1214 Queen St. W.)
