Today’s Bitch Slap artist is Margaux Williamson, a Pittsburgh transplant now living and working in Toronto. On her own Margaux, works primarily as a painter, but often collaborates with friends on various projects including Back to the World, Trampoline Hall, and The Production Front. Here’s Margaux’s take on Bitch Slap and her days spent as an apple tree. Come see Margaux’s work this Friday at the Thrush Holmes Empire (1093 Queen Street West).
What does the term BITCH SLAP mean to you?
To strike someone, using an open hand, with only as much force as they deserve.
What art will you showcasing at the show?
There will be a small painting of mine called “It felt like Cher loved us.”
What interests you most in life?
I don’t know if I can answer that question.
What oddities do you cherish?
Can you be more specific? Though don’t worry about it.
Do you remember a perfect day? What did it look like?
I guess these questions aren’t so much about art, huh?
What do you love most about being a woman?
Difficult to say, but it sure beats that time when I was an apple tree.
If you were a song on our stereo, what would be playing?
We would have quiet time.
