How are you preparing for TIFF right now?
Trying to find an extra day of the week or an hour in the day. Loads of last minute meetings, drafting materials, planning, reaching out to all of our partners to ensure we have all of our “i”s dotted and “t”s crossed from a communications/media standpoint. As always, loving every minute of it.
During TIFF, where would we most likely find you at 2PM? At 2AM?
2PM: Our press office at the Hyatt Regency, or popping into one of our press conferences
2AM: Most often, at home, tucked into bed! Or at least on my way home. Need at least a few hours of shut eye in order to survive.
What has been your most memorable TIFF party to date? Why?
This is only my second year on board as the VP of Communications. I loved closing night last year – starting at YDS when we had a great closing night concert with Eclectic Method and Clyde Stubblefield followed by a rocking party at Roy Thomson Hall. Looking at non festival parties, In Style is always the best (my fashionista wannabe comes out).
What’s your celebrity story, or moment, that gets rehashed most at dinner parties?
Tripping over a chair (I’m clumsy at the best of times) right in front of George Clooney, who was all bandaged up last year during the Festival and warned I’d break something if I wasn’t careful.
What are three things you need to survive during TIFF?
Flat shoes that fit into my clutch
Copious amounts of water
A moment to remember how cool this job is
What film are you looking forward to most this year?
I can’t wait to see Girlfriend and Jucy (however I don’t actually get to see films during the Festival)
What party are you most excited about this year?
The block party we’re organizing for our new year-round home, TIFF Bell Lightbox on September 12th (11AM-4PM).
If you could pick the brain of one filmmaker, who would it be?
Clint Eastwood. There is a lot of brain in there.
If you could grab a drink with one celeb who is attending TIFF this year, who would you choose?
Marion Cotillard – she is a fantastic actress and my style idol.
What’s the first thing you’ll do once TIFF is over?
Grab a pedicure, I suspect. And hang out with my nieces.
