Seven Veils

Can I Get a Witness?

Sandra Oh and Keira Jang star in Can I Get a Witness?, a Canadian sci-fi thriller interwoven with animation. Set in a world where all of society’s problems are solved, from climate change to poverty to inequality, there is a big catch—humans have to end life at the age of 50. Teenage artists are tasked with documenting these deaths, and Kiah (Jang) struggles with her new job.

The Residence

Uzo Aduba stars as a wildly eccentric detective in this screwball whodunnit, the latest series executive-produced by Shonda Rhimes. With 132 rooms, 157 suspects, and one dead body, this is Cordelia’s most high-stakes case yet.

A brand new season of Michelle Buteau’s Survival of the Thickest is dropping this month.  Darkest Miriam

Severance star Britt Lower plays a Toronto librarian in Darkest Miriam, based on Martha Baillie’s novel The Incident Report. Working amidst marginalized community members at the Allan Gardens library branch, Miriam lives in a fog of grief. When a burgeoning love-affair with Janko, a younger foreign cab driver, coincides with her receiving a series of oddly threatening letters addressed to her, Miriam’s sheltered existence is cracked open.

Village Keeper

Haunted by the past, paralyzed by anxiety, and grappling with secrets, a grieving widow must help her two teenage children cope. Finding solace in cleaning, a bloody crime scene unexpectedly reveals her own long-buried trauma. Set in Toronto’s Lawrence Heights, Olunike Adeliyi (Backspot, The Porter), stars in this story of grief and motherhood, which premiered at TIFF 2024
