My Dead Mom

Three years after the death of her mother Fern, Emmy’s grief is catching up with her. But death hasn’t stopped Fern from being fabulous, or from popping back into Emmy’s life to voice her opinions on everything from life choices to lipstick colours. Starring Megan Follows and Lauren Collins, and directed by Chandler Levack (I Like Movies), this sharp and witty 7-part series navigates the complexities of mother-daughter relationships, grief, and death.

Bird

Bird is a tender yet striking coming-of-age fable from Oscar-winning filmmaker Andrea Arnold. Barry Keoghan stars as Bug, a loving yet distracted father to 12-year-old Bailey (Nykiya Adams). When Bailey retreats into nature, seeking comfort and adventure, she encounters a mysterious stranger who changes everything, helping her confront her mother’s abusive partner.

Emilia Pérez

With a stellar, award-winning cast of Selena Gomez, Zoe Saldaña, Adriana Paz and Karla Sofía Gascón, Emilia Pérez follows a lawyer who must help a notorious cartel boss who is secretly transitioning to make way for a new identity—Emilia Pérez. This sweeping, genre-defying tale tells the stories of four women seeking their own happiness, and has been described as a combination of “pop opera, narco thriller, and gender affirmation drama”.

The Sex Lives of College Girls: Season 3

Our four favourite college girlies are ready to nail sophomore year. The latest season of The Sex Lives of College Girls drops this month, and while the new episodes will see the departure of fan favourite Leighton (Reneé Rapp), a host of raunchy and rowdy new adventures await Whitney, Kimberly and Bela at Essex College. The roommates will also cross paths with some fresh faces, as new cast members Ruby Cruz, Gracie Lawrence and Mia Rodgers join the series.

Wicked 

One of the most anticipated films of the year is finally making its way to the big screen this month. Wicked is the untold story of the witches of Oz—a touching story of an unlikely friendship between Glinda and Elphaba, a misunderstood woman with green skin. The first part of the long-awaited film adaptation features a stacked cast (Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey), and epic musical numbers including iconic tracks like Defying Gravity and Popular.

Stay the Night

Set in downtown Toronto, this romantic comedy stars Andrea Bang and Joe Scarpellino as Grace and Carter. Both are having a rough night—professional hockey player Carter was demoted, and Grace was passed over for a promotion and exiled from her apartment. On a lonely night in the city, the pair crosses paths and embark on an all-night adventure, discovering they might be exactly what each other needs.

Not ready to leave the spooky season behind? This spellbinding documentary will immerse you in the world of real-life witches. This year, Lindsay Lohan stars in another heartwarming holiday romance: Our Little Secret, from Canadian writer Hailey DeDominicis.
