Comedy lovers, rejoice: Toronto-born comedian Mae Martin is making their hour-long Netflix stand-up debut with SAP, premiering on March 28. 

In this new comedy special, the award-winning comedian reflects on a world off its axis, from a “mythical moose encounter” to the gender spectrum in Beauty and the Beast. Filmed at Vancouver’s Vogue Theater, SAP is directed by Abbi Jacobson, creator and star of the web series turned hit show Broad City, and the TV adaptation of A League of Their Own. 

In this first look at the special, Mae jokes about the creative burnout of naming hypothetical children with past partners. 

“At this point, I’ve had that conversation with so many people…let me just wade through this graveyard of dead hypothetical children.”


Mae is best known as the creator of the Netflix series Feel Good, a heartfelt queer dramedy starring Mae as a fictionalized version of themself, alongside Charlotte Ritchie and Lisa Kudrow. Feel Good follows the love story between Mae and George (Ritchie), and poignantly addresses addiction, mental health, trauma and romance—while finding the humour in all of it. The show concluded in 2021 with its second season. 

Mae made their Netflix comedy debut with a half-hour set in Comedians of the World in 2019. Last year, they performed in Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration Special, the largest-ever gathering of LGBTQ+ comics recorded at Netflix Is A Joke: The Festival.
