Throw some layers on, fill up your thermos, and take a walk to Harbourfront Centre to explore their magical and massive new Nordic Lights exhibit. 

Nordic Lights brings together artists from Canada, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, and acts as the kick-off event for  Nordic Bridges, Harbourfront Centre’s extensive year-long cultural initiative that celebrates the shared values of creativity, innovation, inclusivity and sustainability between Canada and the Nordic Region in a series of programs from performing and digital arts, to craft and design, literature and film.

“Nordic Lights is a celebration of both Nordicness and the broad exploration of light art. It is significant in these times of separation to unite artists from Nordic countries and Canada and present an expressive, poetic and inspiring exhibition, bringing light and art to everyone in Toronto,” says Curator Anastasia Isachsen, of Oslo’s Fjord Studio, which is dedicated to lighting up life with art. 

The multi-sensory exhibit that includes light installations and video components also includes an audio tour where visitors can listen to thoughts from award-winning Icelandic writer Kristin Gunnarsdóttir. Immerse yourself!

Illuminated from 5pm to 10pm each day, the installations will be positioned at different locations along the Harbourfront Centre Campus, turning the 53,000-square-foot space on the waterfront into an open-air gallery.
