Japanese artist Nanako Iwata will be parked a the Fjallraven store (356 Queen Street West) this Saturday to custom paint Kanken bags, and all proceeds from the event will support Don’t Mess with the Don: a group of Torontonians dedicated to advocating and addressing the issues of continual garbage dumping in our city’s ravines.
The Swedish knapsack brand, which was created to help enjoy life outdoors, has always been invested in nature appreciation, but also environmental protection; it makes a lot of sense that they’ve partnered with this passionate group who are so dedicated to the cause, that they’ve even been meeting regularly during the pandemic to pick up heaps of trash dumped in bushes and wetlands along the Don River.
We love the Fjallraven Kanken knapsacks for their durability and style, and we think getting a custom painting by Nanako Iwata is an amazing way to really have your bag standout from the crowd, and knowing you are helping the lungs of our city breathe a little deeper is a nice secret to carry around. Check out Iwata’s art here.
Bring your Kanken or buy one! The event will kick off at the Fjallraven Queen West store at noon on Saturday. It will be hosted outside the store, but please respect social distancing and wear a mask.
