Ahh, the return of farmers’ markets. After months of shopping for our fruits and veggies beneath the artificial lighting of grocery chains, the perfect afternoon ritual is back. Not only do farmers’ markets ensure you’re getting fresh, locally-grown produce – they encourage better environmental practices like organic and pesticide-free foods and tend to be cheaper because of the direct link between producer and consumer.
Since Earth Day IS coming up next week, why not make a pledge to start eating healthier and shopping locally? Markets cover just about every corner of Toronto so chances are, there’ll be one popping up in your neighbourhood sometime soon. To prepare, here’s some worth checking out!
