At this popular workshop, you’ll learn to grow food organically with low-cost, practical and eco-friendly techniques—right in the middle of the city!
Hosted by urban food grower and community justice activist Cheyenne Sundance, Introduction to Urban Agriculture will cover how to get started and get growing food. You’ll learn everything from seeds & seedling starting, the importance of soil amending, planning for a continuous bounty (including key planting date recommendations for crops), DIY fertilizers, companion planting and much more! Cheyenne will also explain why she chose to be a farmer, the importance of food sovereignty and community growing, decolonization through agriculture, organic agriculture and racism within the food system.
Introduction to Urban Agriculture takes place on June 11 at 348 Danforth Ave. from 6 to 8 p.m. Snacks will be provided as well as chamomile tea. Wear closed-toe shoes, bring a water bottle and clothes you don’t mind getting a bit dirty!
