They may not know your name….but they’ll yell at you!!!
By Louisa Cohen

“Irasshaimase!” is what you will hear every time a guest walks through the doors of Hapa Izakaya, Vancouver’s most lively and unique sushi joint. This honorific greeting is shouted with joy and exuberance at everyone who passes over the threshold, no VIP status necessary (and a definite way to break the ice on a first date).

Every table receives hot-towel service, (warming your hands for ice-cold bamboo flutes of sake). Hapa is the perfect joint for sharing good times and food between table of two, or a spread of many.

Still in its original spot on Robson and beachside lot in Kits, Hapa now has the trifecta covered with a newly opened restaurant in Yaletown.

Hapa Must haves: Ebi Mayo – Batter prawns in a spicy-sweet mayo sauce, Bintoro – Seared albacore tuna sashimi with special ponzu sauce, (so good I could drink it), and Kinoko Meshe – Korean hot stone bowl with rice, mixed mushrooms, and iwanori (seaweed seasoning) combined at your table…

But honestly, when the pals and I roll in, we roll out…because we just tell them to keep the orders coming…

The best part is that with three locations you could point me in any direction – and I could very well end up at Hapa for dinner.

Hapa Good One!!!!
