Whether tackling the Zapatista Revolution in Mexico or writing about nurses working on the front lines with addicts in Vancouver, documentary filmmaker Nettie Wild’s films provide activists with a chance to have their story told. To celebrate the launch of the book Wild At Heart: The Films of Nettie Wild by Mark Harris and Claudia Medina, Wild will be discussing her career with Marc Glassman at a very special This Is Not A Reading Series.
Nettie Wild started her career as an actress, but has grown to become one of Canada’s best documentary filmmakers. She has directed “FIX: The Story of an Addicted City”, about efforts to make a safe injection site in Vancouver, “A Place Called Chiapas”, following Mexican revolutionaries, as well as the award-winning “A Rustling of Leaves: Inside the Philippine Revolution”.
The talk will be held in the Gladstone Hotel Ballroom (1214 Queen Street W) at 8pm. Entrance is $5, or free with a book purchase!
