This Saturday Party Animals, the first solo show from Toronto-based fashion and portrait photographer Katherine Holland, opens at Narwhal Contemporary Gallery (2014 Dundas St W., Toronto). With large hand-poured resin prints of rescued local exotic animals (depicted in their “party persona” as guests at a house party), you’re sure to find some semblance to yourself in the mix.
Holland is an avid animal lover, with a house full of fostered and rescued cats, so she’s donating thirty per cent of the profits from the sale of each print directly to World Wildlife Fund Canada.
“I realize how bleak the situation is for animals worldwide, but I want to encourage people to donate in a way that feels like a celebration. Let’s focus on what we love about these animals, and keep the party going for them,” said Holland. “If someone purchases a print, I hope that it acts as a daily reminder that everyone has the power to help those in need, even in the smallest way.”
The sale runs from September 23rd to 28th.
