Does your kid know it all? No matter how old we get, there’s always something new to learn. 

Toronto Public Library’s Pop-Up Learning Labs travel to different branches to bring new and emerging technology to your community through free, staff-led workshops. 

There are a few happening soon that caught our eye:

Coding for Kids with Scratch! Scratch is a free programming language to make games, movies and animations. In this workshop, they’ll cover some of the basics of Scratch and build a simple game. Learn about the Scratch programming language and editor in this fun workshop for kids aged 10 and up. Runs on Tuesday August 1st from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Humber Bay (200 Park Lawn Rd.) Robotics For Kids: Your kids will take their first steps into the wonderful world of robotics! They’ll learn the basics of programming, upload their code into a real robot and watch it take life! There will be several different robots to play with, including the LEGO Mindstorms EV3, Dash & Dot, Sphero, and MBot. Runs Friday July 28th from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant View (575 Van Horne Ave). Register here. 

Makey Makey For Kids: Explore electronics by interacting with everyday objects! Simple in design, the Makey Makey kits consist of a circuit board, a series of alligator clips and a USB cable for power, but you can create music, play games and make crafts! For kids ages 7 to 12. Runs Thursday July 27th from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant View (575 Van Horne Ave). Register here.
