“My son had no friends; he’s gay. I was so afraid he was going to commit suicide. Someone mentioned Rainbow Camp. My son went, and he came back from camp happier than I have ever seen him. I believe Rainbow Camp saved my son’s life.”
If you have a kid who is LGBTQ2S, it can be difficult to find a space for them where they can truly be themselves.
That’s where Rainbow Camp comes in. It is a one-week camp for LGBTQ2S and allied youth ages 12-17 – one of the only camps of its kind in Canada. The camp provides opportunities for campers to make new friends and develop skills through traditional camp programming and innovative curriculum (everything from canoeing to art therapy). More than anything, it’s a fun, inclusive space for campers to have a true summer camp experience, without worry of judgement.
Situated in beautiful northern Ontario on Lake Huron, the camp is largely funded by donations to help cover expenses for kids who would not otherwise afford to attend. Consider donating to the campaign here. You could save a life.
