Feeling forlorn? In need of answers? This Valentine’s Day, share your story in Simon and Schuster’s Dear Juliet Contest! One lucky letter will receive an Airmail Jar of Notes from Kind Notes, a set of letter-writing essentials, a reply from author Glenn Dixon and a copy of Juliet’s Answer.
When Glenn Dixon is spurned by love, he decides to travel to Verona, Italy, to become a scribe of Juliet, Shakespeare’s fictional character, all in an attempt to understand his heartbreak. Once there, he volunteers to answer the thousands of letters that arrive addressed to Juliet, letters sent from lovelorn people all over the world who long to understand the mysteries of the human heart.
Even some of SDTC’s writers are turning to Juliet for answers. Check out their submissions below.
Dear Juliet,
What is the answer to letting oneself be vulnerable and open to love without fear or hesitation? Why are we afraid to love and be loved, even if that is what we crave at our very core? Vulnerability has never come easy to me, and I am afraid to admit that I have let many people come in and out of my life without telling them how I truly feel. Even as I write this, there is a human being who deserves to be told how I feel, yet I am mute. There is always this voice telling me that perhaps I am not worthy of love. How does one overcome this? How do we expose ourselves and be truly ok with what manifests after we do so? – Anon
Dear Juliet,
HELP! My boyfriend of 10 months moved to Miami for a fancy new agency job at the start of November. We were both okay with doing the long distance thing to see where the relationship will go, and things were great for the first bit, but now something feels off. We barely FaceTime anymore and he seems to always be in between meetings or grabbing drinks with new colleagues whenever I try to talk to him. Am I overreacting? I’m glad that he’s enjoying the new gig and making friends, I just wish he could share a bit more of his new life with me, you know? Should I go down there for a weekend and surprise him? – Anon
