Greetings, seedlings!

The snow is kind of finally maybe starting to melt (FINGYS CROSSED), which means it’s getting close to GARDENING SEASON! I’ve never been much of a gardener myself, but my mom has always kept a gorgeous garden of flowers and herbs in our backyard back home, so I totally understand the satisfaction that people get from growing (and eating) their own plants. Like, one second you put a little seed in some soil and the next thing you know there’s LIFE! Pretty sweet—sweet like a cherry tomato that you just picked from your backyard. BOOM.

If you’re into this kind of thing, there’s an event happening tomorrow at City (Seedy, teehee) Hall that looks really interesting. Basically, Seedy Wednesday is the kick-off to the Seedy Saturday and Sunday events that take place across Ontario (and the country). People get together to share seeds and create public awareness surrounding issues of seeds, food justice, and urban agriculture. Plus, Seedy Wednesday will also foster a discussion about the future of Toronto’s Seed Library, which, according to the Facebook event, “will help to scale up urban agriculture in Toronto by fortifying the seed and gardening community, and increasing access and diversity of locally adapted seed varieties.”

It’s all happening tomorrow at 12pm on the first floor of City Hall near the Toronto Public Library. So grab some seeds and get ready to spread the awareness, water it, and watch it grow into a beautiful plant. Peas and love, y’all.
